Im a softy, and right now (since there is no litter), I am listening to a heartbreaking song called "Gee I'm glad it's raining". It was written by Jim Varney. You might have known him as "Ernest P. Worell" on many commercials and movies years ago, or "Slinky" the dog on Toy Story. He died not too terribly long ago from smoking. He was and is my hero. My friend. And so, in his loving memory, I am going to let you hear his heartbreaking son.
In loving memory, Jim Varney.
Gee, I'm Glad It's Raining by Jim Varney
Gee I'm glad it's raining There's always something to be thankful for. I'm awfully glad it's raining Cause no one sees the tear drops when it pours.
And no one knows the thunder As your heart breaks in the sky, And they think those rainy nights Cause that sad look in your eye.
Sure am glad it's raining. The gentle river soothes the pain inside. I'm glad the stars aren't shining. This wounded warrior needs a place to hide.
I thought I had found someone I could count til the end. What they wanted was a hero, All I needed was a friend
Gee I'm glad it's raining. I hope the morning sun won't come up soon. As long as it keeps raining, No one knows my heart broke right in two.
I thought I had found someone I could count til the end. What they wanted was a hero, All I needed was a friend
Sure am glad it's raining. I'm awfully glad it's raining
In loving memory, Jim Varney

Wow, it's so sad when people die from smoking. And I like the song too. A good song when a tragic event happened.

No, I don't, but the poem posted was really beautiful-- I had some instrumental music CD playing at the time I was reading this thread, and it made the poem even more touching!
